EASTER TRAINING

6-day junior alpine race training programme in Murren. Just like KSC’s existing training we’ve all come to know and love; with all-mountain skiing, jumps, technique, skills, drills, SL courses, GS courses, timing, an end of camp race day (Mums & Dads welcome to take part), and lots of fun!

TRAINING

Mike Barker & Matt Shepherd will be the coaches for the camp, and depending on numbers, we’ll bring in additional coaches if necessary. The training will be relaxed and fun, but also structured and professional. The main aim is to make sure everyone on the camp has a great time, and to make sure friendships and memories are made that last a lifetime. Of course, the next priority is to make sure all our trainees develop and improve their ski racing as rapidly as possible - Mike & Matt will bring to bear all their years of experience coaching junior athletes to make sure this happens.

A typical day will involve meeting up in Murren at 0845hrs, ready to start training at 0900hrs. We’ll then train in groups for the day with an athlete:coach ratio of 10:1. We’ll take an hour for lunch on the hill at about 1200hrs (remember a packed lunch or cash for food), and will then train through until 1530hrs. Parents will need to drop off and meet up with their children at the designated meeting points at 0845hrs and 1530hrs. Groups will be decided based on age and ability and the training will develop throughout the week, starting with technique, skills and drills to begin with, and moving towards gate training, timing and racing towards the end of the week.

We’ll also aim to coordinate optional off-snow ‘Apres-ski’ activities for trainees and families; which is likely to involve toboganning, curling, video analysis, fitness sessions and evening meals. Any of these activities that involve a cost are not covered by the training fee and will need to be paid for individually.

FORMAT & COSTS

Camp costs are £550pp for 6-days training for KSC members, and £700pp for non-members. We encourage everyone to take part in the full 6-day camp so they can gain maximum benefit from the structured training programme, and to aid us in the organisational planning. However if you cannot commit to the full 6-days of training, there is the option to pay day rates of £115pppd for KSC members, and £140pppd for non-members. If you are booking day rates, please specify the exact days that you need at the end of the online booking form. Fees are for ‘outlier’ training only and do not cover; accommodation, travel, lift pass, food, equipment hire, insurance or off-snow activities.

MURREN & TRAVEL

Kandahar Ski Club was formed at the Palace Hotel in January 1924, and Murren has been our home ever since. Murren is one of the most beautiful and breathtaking locations on planet earth, and being able to train here as a club is a privilege beyond compare. If you’ve not yet been to Murren, then you’re in for a treat! BOOKING

To book your children onto the training camp, click on the link below and complete the form. You’ll then receive a booking request confirmation email and invoice from us (note that this isn’t automated, and so may take a few days). Once your invoice is paid via bank transfer, you’ll then receive an email confirming your childs place on the training, and more detailed information will follow via email as the camp approaches. Finally, we’ll see you in Murren!
